Blue Hawks insignia

The Blue Hawks carried their hawk insignia from the A-4 Skyhawk years through their final A-7 Corsair II deployment.

About the Artifact

The hawk was part of the squadron’s identity before it became VA-72. As VF-72, the unit adopted a peregrine falcon insignia in 1950. A modified hawk design followed in the mid-1950s and remained with VA-72 for 35 years. It marked the squadron through the Skyhawk and Corsair II years, including its final combat campaign in Desert Storm. The squadron was disestablished on June 30, 1991.
