Col Charles B. DeBellevue, USAF Retired

Charles B. DeBellevue became the highest-scoring American ace of the Vietnam War, credited with six aerial victories.

Behind the Name

He fought from the back seat of an F-4D with the 555th Tactical Fighter Squadron, managing radar and weapons while the pilot flew. He shared four victories with Steve Ritchie and two with John Madden. Their record shows why the Phantom needed a skilled crew in both seats.
